Mia Hamm

Mia Hamm has scored more international goals than any other player in the history of soccer. Her dynamic play and athleticism has defeated opponents and helped win championships at every level of competition. Hamm was named the women's FIFA World Player of the Year the first two years the award was given and was an integral part of the U.S. Women's gold medal in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. Hamm retired from soccer in 2004 and was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame the first year she was eligible. She is widely credited with elevating national interest in both women's sports and soccer to unprecedented levels.
