Senior Scientist, Gatorade Sports Science Institute
Beth Stover is an Exercise Scientist with interests in sports nutrition, hydration, and young athletes. Her research at GSSI involves conducting studies to advance
our understanding of what drives drinking during exercise, pre-exercise hydration
status and sweat, and electrolyte losses in youth athletes. She also co-manages
the GSSI Athlete Testing Program.
She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength
and Conditioning Association, and has co-authored several articles in scientific
publications.
Beth came to GSSI from Michigan State University (MSU), where she worked in MSU’s Human Energy Research Laboratory with Dr. James Pivarnik. Beth conducted physiological testing of MSU varsity athletes and did her thesis work on hematological responses
to exercise during pregnancy and post-partum.
Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Beth earned her BS degrees in Psychology and Kinesiology
at MSU, where she was also a member of the women’s Track and Field Team as a Long
and Triple Jumper. Upon graduation, she returned to MSU, earning an MS in Kinesiology
while competing as a member of the school’s Tae Kwon Do Club.
In her spare time, Beth enjoys martial arts training, running, and weight lifting.
