Senior Scientist, Gatorade Sports Science Institute
Jim Holden is a Senior Scientist at GSSI with research interests that center primarily around functional ingredients and ergogenic aids. Prior to joining GSSI, Jim worked for Pfizer’s Food Ingredient Division researching fat and sugar replacers and nutraceuticals, and also spent a year at Johnson and Johnson working on high-intensity sweeteners. Most recently, Jim worked at Pepsi’s Ingredient Technology Group, where he was involved in ingredient research and the development of ingredient specifications.
Originally from Wisconsin, Jim has a BS in Food Science and Nutrition from the University of Rhode Island and an MS in Human Nutrition from the University of New Haven. An avid adventure racer and mountain biker, Jim is a founding board member of the Adventure Racing Educational Organization (ARFE). He also enjoys cycling, triathlons, backpacking and paddling.
