Scientist, Gatorade Sports Science Institute
JohnEric Smith is an exercise scientist with interests in thermoregulation, performance enhancement, and exercise metabolism. His primary responsibility at GSSI is to explore
the efficacy of potential new ingredients and products. In the Exercise Performance
Lab, JohnEric conducts physiology-related research in the impact of various ingredients
on exercise performance and energy metabolism.
Originally from Georgia, JohnEric came to GSSI from Auburn University, where he
received his BS and MS in Exercise Science and is currently working to finish the
requirements for his PhD under the guidance of David Pascoe, PhD.
He has co-authored numerous presentations related to thermoregulation, exercise/work performance, infrared thermal imaging related to detection, and rehabilitation of sports related injury.
JohnEric is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He is also certified through the American Academy of Thermography as a Thermography Technician.
In his spare time, JohnEric enjoys cycling, weight training, and triathlons.
